Filtrometer™ Steps For Success / 3200 Series
Use of the Filtrometer™ with your HVAC system can be viewed as one integral part of the whole HVAC reconfiguration. The following sample breakdown illustrates the estimated savings you can expect from implementing each step*. Contact Precision Air Technology to find out how the Filtrometer™ can work for you!
Step 1 - Original Setup
A hospital HVAC system with the following characteristics. Minimal maintenance results in energy inefficient air handler unit.
• Number of filters = 25
• Type of filtration = MERV 11
• 25 HP / 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
• Cost of filters: 25 x $12.00 x 3/yr = $900.00 per year
• Cost of maintenance = approx. $2,200.00 per year
• 8760 hours/annually - 188,317 kWh
• @ $0.10 kWh annual cost = $18,831.70
TOTAL COST = $21,931.70
Step 2 - Low Pressure Filter
We change the filters to low-pressure efficiency filters while continuing the standard manual maintenance and monitoring. Although the low-pressure filter is considered a better choice, it is none the less a minimal savings on its own. By adding the Filtrometer™ to the equation in the next step we can realize the full potential of the low-pressure filter.
• Number of filters = 25 • Type of filtration = MERV 11 (efficiency low-pressure)
• 25 HP / 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
• Cost of filters: 25 x $12.00 x 3/yr = $900.00 per year
• Cost of maintenance = approx. $2,200.00 per year • 8760 hours/annually - 175,817 kWh • @ $0.10 kWh annual cost = $17,581.70
TOTAL COST = $20,681.70
Savings From Step 1 = 6%
Step 3 - Filtrometer™
Filtrometer™ air filter monitor is added. The Filtrometer™ provides more precision climate control and improved energy management, resulting in more savings. The Filtrometer™ is an ideal compliment to low-pressure filters because it doesn't rely on measuring differential pressure of the filters, but upon the resistance of the filter.
• Number of filters = 25
• Type of filtration = MERV 11 (efficiency low-pressure)
• 25 HP / 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
• Cost of filters: 25 x $12.00 x 4/yr = $1,200.00 per year
• Cost of maintenance = approx. $500.00 per year
• 8760 hours/annually - 158,698 kWh
• @ $0.10 kWh annual cost = $15,869.80
TOTAL COST = $17,569.80
Savings From Step 1 = 20%
Step 4 - Variable Airflow
Now we change from a constant airflow to a variable airflow system. Variable airflows offer huge savings potential. However, air filters in variable airflow cannot be accurately monitored without the Filtrometer's™ unique capacity to detect dirty filters in both constant and variable airflows. Filtrometer™ is an essential element to assure accurate and reliable operation of this energy saving technology.
$500.00 per year
• 8760 hours/annually - 40,930 kWh • @ $0.10 kWh annual cost = $4,093.00
TOTAL COST = $5,793.00
Savings From Step 1 = 74%
